How to Keep Flies At Bay!

So far it looks like it working so far for me, I'm seeing less flies then when I saw way too many!!

Important Note!! You want to keep flies at bay!! Cause your chickens can get Flystrike!! The flies can lay their eggs on their vent, wound or dirty poop feather and maggot can eat them while they alive!! 😧 Make sure to give your chicken with dirty butt feather a bath to clean them!

WHAT I DO:

  1. So I just kept cleaning my chicken coop to get poop out every morning!

  2. I bought Irish Soap and Little Tree Car Air Freshener Vanillaroma and hang it around my coop! They help make the chicken coop smell nice and supposed to help keep flies away!!

  3. I took my chicken feed container and drill hole into them and put Paracord rope through and hang it up and add my little tree on it, then I use my foam board to wrapped around the chicken feed to keep flies out so that helping me!!

  4. I added Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade on ground, porch and where the chicken roost at night since they like to poop there.

What I put in container to trap flies!!

  1. I get a container and I drill 2 hole in the lid for flies to go in but make it difficult for them to come out, I cut bottle in half, flip the open hole inside the bottle and put tape around it.

  2. I add 1 cup of Brown Sugar Crane.

  3. Pure Honey! 2 teaspoon

  4. Water! 1 Cup

  5. Pull a couple of Apple Cider Vinger into bottle.

  6. add apple, banana, any fruit!

How to Keep Mites/Lice at Bay!!

Since I have delt with mites and lice!! which only live and host on chickens.

What I do to help my chickens!

  1. I gave my chickens a warm bath to help get Mite/Lice off of them in their 20-quart bath container.

  2. I added 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and cut-up garlic cloves to lukewarm water to let it steep.

  3. I added 1 cup of unfiltered apple cider vinegar with ā€œthe motherā€

  4. 1/2 cup of Epsom salt.

  5. Let them sit in for fifteen to twenty minutes.

  6. After you take them out, blow dry their feather till they dries enough before you take them back to coop.

What I add inside the tent so chicken can dust bath in?

    1. DE Food Grade!

    2. Soil Dirt

    3. Wood ash (make sure to NOT use gasoline/gas, use the pine straw or paper towel!)

It got all the mites/lice off of them, and they seem happier! I cleaned my chicken coops yesterday. This is my third time adding DE (Food Grade) to keep mites at bay, just in case. I lightly added it inside their nesting boxes the nesting box too! So far, it looks like it’s working! I haven’t seen any mites! I plan to give my chickens another bath tomorrow, just in case, to keep things under control. As for the chicken feed bag shown in the picture, I cut it out and laid it on top of the lid of my chicken nesting box with DE Food Grade sprinkle. That’s where they like to roost and poop on 🄓, so it makes it easier to clean and remove!ā˜ŗļø I also added something I believe is called Paper Foam?? I cut and hot-glued it to the chicken nest containers, so they can feel safe while laying their eggs, with some added privacy and security shown in the picture.

How to help with Chicken Egg Bound!!

To help your chicken with egg bond from my research and what my plan is if it does happen is... example picture I have..

1. Get a 20qt gal container, add lukewarm bath

2. Add 1/2 esponge salt!

  1. Let them sit in for fifteen to twenty minutes.

  2. Blow dry them till feather dries and place your hen in a quiet, dark, and warm space.

  3. Give them yolk, chicken feed and their probiotics & electrolytes water. Another thing if they not drinking their water much soak a small pieces of bread in their water and give to them!
